摘要

We have developed a manufacturing method for a large expanded grid, and used this grid to develop a stationary VRLA battery. This expanded grid is the largest one used in VRLA batteries. Design life of this battery is 15 years. To extend the battery life, we used the expanded grid made of highly corrosion-resistant grid alloy in the positive plates, so that grid corrosion occurs slowly, and is not limited in grain boundaries which is bad for battery designing as is the case with a cast grid. The nominal capacity of this battery is 1000 Ah, so capacity demand over 1000 Ah can be met by connecting the batteries in parallel. This paper discusses the development of this VRLA battery.
