Present study was conducted to assess the growth performance and the digestibility of dietary nutrients in extruded pellet (EP) containing 0 (Control), 15 and 30 percent raw squid liver (SL) on yellowtail, Seriola quinqueradiata for 40 days rearingand red sea bream, Pagrus major for 90 days rearing. In Japan, 24,000 t of SL is disposed every year as waste derived from food processing industry. The growth performance of yellowtail fed the experimental diets containing raw SL was equal or superior to the control fish. Feed efficiencies showed the same tendency. On the other hand, the growth performance of red sea bream fed the experimental diets containing raw SL was equal to the control fish. Feed efficiencies showed the same tendency. There was no difference in apparent digestibility of dietary protein and lipid between the diets. These results suggest that 20 approx 30 percent of fish meal and total amount of fish oil can be replaced by raw SL, since EP containing up to 30 percent raw SL can beused for yellowtail and red sea bream.
