Evaluation of profile test utilizing clinical signs of dairy cows in arthrosis frequently occurring farms

Profile tests added inquiring survey on feeding, condition of barn and clinical signs was carried out regarding to arthrosis frequently or low occurring farms, and comparative investigations were made on both farm groups. In the frequently occurring farms, width of stall floor was narrow, front bar was lower, number of lying down cow and rmination was fewer, and skin surface was lusterless, compared with low occurring farms. Moreover, dust adhesion, defective udder color, and abnormal hoof hygiene and joint were observed in frequently occurring farms, and also body condition score (BCS) and manure score (MSC) were abnormal. In the blood findings, the elevation of blood ammonia and decline of hematocrit and serum protein observed. Therefore, it was very worthwhile as one item of profile test to add the clinical signs of dairy cow in evaluating the breeding management more objectively.
