A relic elm grove near the Volkhov river.

摘要

A description is given of the botanical composition of the northernmost elm (Ulmus laevis) wood in northwest Russia. The wood grows on the steep limestone slope down to the Volkhov river near the city of Volkhov. Some relatively southern plant species disjunct to a various degree from their main areas are associated with this grove. The elm wood is relict vegetation of the Atlantic period of the Holocene.
