The commercial aircraft the Boeing787 (B787) was launched 10 years ago and has been in operation at 25 airlines. The number of aircraft in operation has surpassed several hundred. In commercial aircraft engineering, the term electric aircraft" has become popular, but the pilot control system of the B787 was the leading edge of electrical systems at the time because, until then, pilot control systems were hydraulic systems that enabled feel control for pilots. Usually, hydraulic systems are used for pilot control systems mainly to generate feedback power proportional to wing airflow resistance, so aircraft are manufactured with hydric pipes and related accessories. The systems have come to be all electrical, and system makers are now able to manufacture the electrical systems in their entirety in house, making it possible to provide the systems separately for manufacturing airplanes, and, in terms of maintenance, the systems are easier than dealing with troublesome hydraulic work. Finally, the in-wheel motor, which is installed in the nose wheel, is presented for self-pushback and taxiing on the taxiway, which is under development. Currently, all-electric aircraft are under development at various aircraft manufacturers, even those in the business jet market. This motor is the last remaining piece of important equipment. If we achieve this in-wheel motor self-taxiing system successfully, all of the equipment in business jets will be electrical, which will reduce CO2 emissions greatly.
