Technical Trends of Aluminum Melting-Holding Furnace and Ladle Heating

Aluminum cast products are commonplace in our daily life with various applications such as automobile wheel rim,and frame body for personal computer,mobile phone or window sash.These aluminum cast products are manufactured with diversi?ed methods such as die casting,gravity die casting,sand mold casting.low pressure casting or continuous casting,for all of which melting and holding furnaces to melt aluminum and hold molten metal as well as ladle to transfer and teem molten aluminum into the mold are used as essential facilities.It is reported that approximately 3000 aluminum melting furnaces are currently operated in Japan with their own strengths and limitations.Several types of melting and holding furnaces and ladles with metal bath heating function,which are technically improved so as to overcome difficulties in the present operation,are introduced in this report.
