摘要

The objective of the present research work is to study the effect of cooling rate on dry sliding wear characteristics of unmodified hypo-eutectic Al-7.7Si-0.4Mg (A356) cast alloy. Castings were produced using copper die gravity casting method with two different cooling conditions i.e. air-cooling and water-cooling. Dry sliding wear characteristics of both air-cooled and water-cooled samples were studied against hardened EN31 steel using a pin-on-disc tribometer under two different loading conditions (ION and 20N) with the sliding velocity of lm/s. It was observed that the co-efficient of friction and wear loss decreases as the degree of cooling rate increases.
