Adoption of Radiation Therapy Oncology Group consensus guidelines for post-prostatectomy radiation therapy in an academic tertiary care center

Objective This study aimed to define the impact of Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) guidelines for clinical target volume (CTV) delineation for post-prostatectomy external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) on radiation dosimetry and toxicity. Methods We reviewed the records of 125 patients treated with post-prostatectomy EBRT at our institution. We recorded CTV size, dosimetric parameters for the rectum and bladder, and acute and late gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity. To estimate the impact of the RTOG guidelines, patients treated prior to 2010 were compared to patients treated from 2010 to 2013 for each of these endpoints.
