Deliberative clinical ethical judgment: An essential component of contemporary obstetrics

Obstetricians should provide perinatal care according to the discipline of the deliberative practice of medicine. By this phrase, we mean that clinical judgment, decision-making, and management of patients' conditions and diseases should be evidence-based, rigorous, transparent, and accountable. The deliberative practice of obstetrics includes deliberative clinical judgment in response to ethical challenges in the care of pregnant patients. In this article, we will highlight some contemporary obstetric clinical challenges for the responsible management of which deliberative clinical ethical judgment is essential.
