摘要

Application of fractals in the analysis of microseismicity associated with rockbursts in underground mines has gained increased importance in recent years, and provided a new direction to the study of mining induced seismicity'. The approach is based on the selection of appropriate fractal techniques which include the multiracial approach and applying them to the qualifying data. The spatial and temporal distribution of microseismic events leading to the determination of correlation dimension, D_c and the seismic b-value from which the powerlaw exponent, D is calculated, have proved to be the most useful among various parameters. Fractal concepts and measurement methods are presented along with the results and discussion of a few case studies including those of Champion Reef Mine, KGF The overall results show that the application of fractals can improve the utility of microseismic technology towards combating the problems of rockbursts and also for investigating die mine response to stress changes.
