Spending on the decommissioning of ageing offshore oil and gas platforms off West Africa is starting to rise with a peak expected at nearly US $3 Bn per annum. The workload has traditionally been focused on the Gulf of Mexico and North Sea but new research by analysts at IHS Markit shows that the work is now spreading to other regions. In Africa, over the next few years some of the major jobs anticipated to be in the US $50m plus range include a series of Chevron projects: Numbi, Kungulo and Malongo North in Angola, and Apoin North and Delta South in Nigeria.
