Repsol gets rig for Namibian deep

Repsol has awarded a rig contract for a deepwater well off Namibia next February. While HRT is closing in on results from its own Murombe well in the Walvis Basin off the north of the country, Repsol will use the newbuild Rowan Renaissance for its well in the same basin. The US $80m well will be on the Welwitschia prospect in Licence 0010. It is targeting 1.65 Bn boe in order to evaluate primary and secondary target reservoirs in both the Maastrichtian and Aptian-Albian reservoir sequences. It is expected to be drilled to a total depth of 9,845ft (3,000m).
