Vascular trauma of upper limb

This is a case of a traumatic arteriovenous fistula. Patient was stabbed on his left upper limb and presented in Accident and Emergency Department haemodynamically stable, with pain and a small edema of his limb. Radial pulses were palpable, but a bruit was audible in area around trauma and this led us to proceed with a Digital Subtraction Angiography which showed an arteriovenous fistula. Brachial artery reconstruction with an end to end anastomosis was undertaken. Vascular injury should always be excluded in areas where major vascular trunks exist, by clinical and imaging methods despite the absence of ischemia.
