Cabinda rebels kill as Angolan President prepares to leave stage

Turbulence continues in Angola with separatist rebels saying they killed a dozen soldiers in the enclave of Cabinda while the President is continuing to reshuffle his top Officials. The Front for the Liberation of the Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC) said it ambushed the troops in the northern Buco-Zau region, part of a flare-up of violence in a region that produces half the southern African state's oil. The rebels have now reported more than 50 deaths since fighting broke out in August. In the meantime, President Jose Eduardo dos Santos fired Finance Minister Armando Manuel two months after the government of Africa's biggest oil producer broke off talks with the IMF over emergency funding.
