Cooper drilling ahead on final Tunisian platform test

Potentially the final appraisal well before approval of a platform project off Tunisia is now drilling ahead. The jackup Jupiter is drilling the Hammamet West-3 well for Cooper Energy in 165ft (50m) of water in the Bargou block around 16km offshore. The well will be a horizontal test of the productivity of the Abiod formation in which the Hammamet West-2 (drilled in 1990) demonstrated a 630ft (192m) oil column. The new well will target an estimated P50 resource of 111m bbl with 10m bbl in the Birsa and the remainder in the Abiod.
