Understanding regional differences in farm policy preferences.

摘要

Despite increased similarities in commodities produced across rural areas of the South and the Midwest (USA), the farm policy preferences of crop producers in these regions remain starkly different. This article attempts to explain why. It also demonstrates that while important differences remain, the current high price levels for agricultural commodities may create opportunities for agreements across historically divergent regional interests on the structure of future farm policy.
