摘要

Physico-chemical analysis of the water does not provide the direct conclusions on the quality of water. Water quality index calculates all the parameters and gives an easy decision making output to analyze the quality of water. WQI was determined on the basis of various parameters like pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), alkalinity, hardness, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS) and Nitrate for which no earlier reports are available on this water body. During this investigation, it was observed that the Bhutnal lake water quality could be categorized as excellent; water quality is protected with virtual absence of threat or impairment and conditions very close to natural or desirable levels.
