A field survey was conducted to identify the constraints in pig farming in Chaka block of Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Data was collected randomly from selected 60 pig farmers from 11 villages of Chaka block. The pig fanners were interviewed with a well structured questionnaire. Most of the respondents were engaged in pig farming as a secondary activity. The results revealed that pig fanners mostly local or non-descript pigs. Majority of piglet mortality is caused due to diarrhoea 31.6% and crushing of piglets 20%. Majority of grower and adult pig mortality is caused due to diarrhoea 26.6% and Swine fever 23.3%. The main constraint was lack of capital, high cost of feed, religious taboos lack and piglet mortality.
