Relative preference of Caryedon serratus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) for selected groundnut genotypes in storage.

The pods of groundnut cv. ICGV-86325, ICGV-86590, ICGS-76, ICG (FDRS-10), ICGS-11, ICGS-5, ICGS-44, ICGS-37, ICGV-91117, K-134 and TMV-2 were evaluated for their relative resistance to the attack of Caryedon serratus under laboratory conditions. Thecultivars were grouped into three categories as least susceptible, moderately susceptible and highly susceptible. The pods of cv. ICGS-11 and ICGS-76 exhibiting low fecundity and high mean developmental period of the beetle with low index of susceptibility, low weight loss and damage were grouped as least susceptible to C. serratus. The remaining cultivars were either moderately susceptible or highly susceptible.
