SCUM XIII: Southern California Unified Malacologists

Thirty-five professional, amateur, and student malacologists and paleontologists attended the 13 th annual gathering of Southern California Unified Malacologists (SCUM) in the Centarus Room of the Bronco Student Center at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California, on Saturday, January 24th, 2009. This informal group continues to meet on an annual basis to facilitate contact and keep members informed of research activities and opportunities. In keeping these gatherings informal,there are no dues, officers, or publications. It is hoped that the continuing success of informal groups such as SCUM, Bay Area Malacologists (BAM), Mid-Atlantic Malacologists (MAM), and the Ohio Valley Unified Malacologists (OVUM) will encourage other regional groups of malacologists and paleontologists to meet in a likewise manner.
