Ophir Energy has finally secured a rig for a minimum of six wells off West Africa next year, with a commitment to three wells off Gabon including two in the pre-salt, and likely further drilling to firm up gas reserves off Equatorial Guinea. The company already has a rig for its own operated drilling off East Africa next year but there has been uncertainty over its delayed wildcatting off West Africa.
