Flexible Grinding Plan for Hot Strip Mill CVC Work Rolls to Increase Roll Life

This paper analyzed the CVC work roll grinding curve to obtain a set of polynomial coefficients for the CVC curve. A flexible grinding plan for hot strip mill work rolls was then developed to reduce the amount of roll stock removed each grinding. The life span of CVC work rolls was thereby increased by approximately 11 percent.
