摘要

SEAT, propped up for years on all fronts by its remarkably patient Wolfsburg masters, has clearly rolled up its sleeves and may be about to break the back of its black hole image. It currently ranks as the biggest notable gainer in the middle ranks of West Europe's cut-throat marketing arena. Painting on a broad canvas, and apart from the continuing muscle flexing of the region's powerhouse marques - chiefly Volkswagen Group members and Korea's Hyundai-Kia - plus Germany's sector-leading prestige brands, April's markedly brighter car sales figures reveals once more that the relative positions of the region's main losers have hardly changed. But one particular development, not just in April, but no less so during the past couple of months couldn't fail to grab the attention of industry strategists.
