Toyota posts 1st quarter fiscal year loss, but it could have been worse

Toyota, the world's leading vehicle maker and suffering just like its main rivals from this year's biting global recession, posted a smaller than feared operating loss of Yen194.9bn ({EUR}1.4bn) during the fiscal first quarter ending June 30th. Partly encouraged by the better than earlier feared performance in scrappage incentive aided markets Toyota revised upwards its 2010 fiscal year global vehicle projection by some 100,000 units to 6.6 million vehicles.
