INDIAN AUTHORITIES POSTPONES GRANTING ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE FOR ODISHA STEEL WORKS CONSTRUCTION

India’s JSW Steel waits for deforestation permit aiming to clear the land to construct a 12 million tpy integrated steel plant in Odisha, Metal Expert learnt from local sources. The request, applied to the Ministry of Environment and Forest and Climate Change, is under con- sideration by the Forest Advisory Committee (FAC), which has postponed the transfer of the permit until final counsel’s opinion. “The issue of transfer of forest clearance approval needs legal interpretation,” commented the FAC’s representative.
