Global steel overcapacity issue holds the top rates ofdiscussions at different levels from local steelmakersto trade and industry ministers. The Steel Committeeof the Organisation for Economic Co-operation andDevelopment (OECD) follows the policy and capacitydevelopments for decades, providing recommendations for policy-makers. The Committee has becomea facilitator for the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity. Anthony de Carvalho, Senior Economist andHead of Steel Committee in OECD, told Metal Expert about the overcapacity estimates, as well as aboutthe approach and tools to solve the issue.
