ALMADINA STEEL BEGINS HOT TRIALS AT STEELMAKING UNIT

Aiming to integrate production chain and reduce dependence on purchased billet, Almadina Steel, an Egypt’s rebar producer, started steelmaking operations in test mode. Almadina Steel began hot trials at its 360,000 tpy steelmaking unit on December 9. “Commercial production may start these days, and all the feedstock will be supplied for our rolling mill,” the company’s source told Metal Expert. Currently, the producer buys around 15,000-20,000 t of billet monthly in order to satisfy the requirement of the mill capable of production 324,000 tpy of rebar, which is destined in the domestic market.
