I waited for her sobbing to stop and so did Mrs. Verriickt, who sat, detached and unconcerned. "Tell me more," I invited after the sobbing ceased. "She joined the Air Force at 18. She retired from Tinker last year. All her life she's been an Air-Force brat, and now she's a 78-year-old angry brat."
