Jet fuel imports into Europe’s largest aviation market in the UK spiked 9% to just over 7 million metric tons (202,000 barrels per day) in the nine months to end-September, according to data prepared for Energy Intelligence by the UK government’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Jet traders say a major turnaround at Essar’s Stanlow refinery near Manchester in the first half added at least 250,000 tons to UK jet imports, putting the UK’s creaking supply system under intense pressure.
