INDIA - A sharp slowdown in the aviation sector kept domestic jet fuel consumption virtually flat in June versus last year. That compares with a 9% jump in jet fuel sales seen in the fiscal year ended Mar. 31. Airlines consumed 666,000 tons (180,000 b/d) of aviation fuel last month com- pared to 669,000 tons in the same month last year, according to oil ministry data. Underscoring the downward trend, June consumption was 4% lower than May. A federal oil ministry forecast still shows jet fuel consumption averaging 196,000 b/d in the current fiscal that began Apr. 1, a rise of 5.9% from the prior year’s 185,000 b/d rate. India’s jet fuel demand has weakened even as jet prices fell 7% in June versus last year to 65,007 rupees ($945) per kiloliter at New Delhi airport.
