Reforming world bank policy can help drive zero emissions from coal

Across the world today, over a billion people have no access to electricity. Many more in developing economies still face energy shortages or disruption with consequences for their economic potential and living standards. In many regions, coal-fuelled power is often the only accessible and affordable solution. Plants being built today in Egypt, Kenya, Bangladesh and across Southeast Asia will mean that coal will be part of the energy mix for decades to come.
