Super-low friction nickel based carbon nanotube composite coating electro-deposited from eutectic solvents

摘要

Nickel based composite films were electro-deposited from the choline chloride/carbamide deep eutectic solvent containing carbon nanotube (CNTs). It is found that the introduction of CNTs in eutectic solvents bath would greatly increase the crystalline grain size of Ni, and the surface roughness increased from 58 nm to 94 nm after the CNTs incorporation in the films. Hardness and elastic modulus of the composite films reach about 25 GPa and 176 GPa, obviously higher than that of monolithic Ni film. Composite film obtained at CNTs content of 0.5 m/L show super-low friction coefficient of 0.128, and exhibited the excellent tribological properties. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
