摘要

The present investigations report on the green bio-synthesis of silver nano-particles (Ag-NPs) using silymarin extracted from callus cultures of Silybum marianum. Ag-NPs were characterized with the help of UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD and SEM. The results obtained by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy indicated that the concentration of silymarin, silver nitrate and reaction time duration have significant effect on Ag-NPs properties and optimum reaction condition was resulted as treating of 5mM silver nitrate aqueous solution with 50 mg/100 ml silymarin at 240 min reaction time duration. Further, synthesized Ag-NPs showed effective antibacterial activity and 20 microgram/ml Ag-NPs were found to be the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) against E. coli. Thus, these Ag-NPs of S. marianum can be used against the bacteria.
