摘要

Liquid pipelines often come across hydraulic transients, which can damage pipelines and associated equipment (i.e., pumps, valves, stations, etc.). This happens due to high or low pressure, when surge in flow exceeds design pressure. Hydraulic surge is designed based on pipeline size and the capacity of pumping or compression required, including the timing of valve opening and closing. For these reasons, it is important to calculate a transient process that may occur during design or operation of the pipeline.
