Blue Diamond managing director Alan Roper has given the time frame for the opening of three new garden centre builds as well as thanking his staff for improving sales across the group's 37 centres.Building will start at the walled garden at Lord Iveagh's Elveden Estate near Thetford in Norfolk this year, for opening in 2021. Sheffield Totley is planned for spring 2022. Blue Diamond's biggest ever centre, at Scotch Corner in North Yorkshire, is planned for spring 2021 as part of a Bicester Village-style development.Roper says sales at the nine Wyevales bought by Blue Diamond in 2018 have risen from E36.5m to E51.7m (42 per cent) in a year (see box) and are on track to more than double to E78.2m.
