The Figley Fellowship in Radiology Journalism was established in honor of Dr. Melvin M. Figley who was a pioneer of 20th century radiology [1]. A Harvard and University of Michigan alumnus, he devoted his professional career to the advancement radiology through scientific writing and as editor in chief of the American Journal of Roentgenol-ogy, Radium Therapy, and Nuclear Medicine. He later changed the name to the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR). The goal of the Figley Fellowship is twofold: first, to stimulate young radiologists in becoming successful leaders and, second, to improve the quality of radiology journalism.
