A division of Balfour Beatty, the UK's largest contractor, has appeared in court after a bricklayer was injured when the floor of a house under construction gave way. Newcastle Crown Court heard that Balfour Beatty Regional Construction, which was running the site at Richmond Park Croft, Sheffield, failed to properly install the first floor's supporting joists in line with the designer's instructions.
