Varieties and nature of zirconium bearing minerals from the Chhatrapur beach placer deposit, Odisha, India

摘要

The occurrence of baddeleyite (ZrO2), a rare mineral, has been recorded, for the first time in this placer deposit of Chhatrapur Coast. This rare occurrence of baddeleyite was investigated using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) attached with an Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) to decipher their morphology and mineral chemistry. The provenance of the baddeleyite mineral grains of Chhatrapur beach placer deposit may be the igneous and metamorphic rocks of Eastern Ghat Mobile Belt (EGMB).
