POLICY: Chancellor pledges billions to decarbonised buildings plan

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has committed billions of pounds towards decarbonising public sector buildings, improving domestic energy efficiency and expanding greener heating. A Summer Statement delivered by the chancellor on 8 July set out details of a ￡3bn 'green jobs' plan that he said would be a major part of the second phase of the government's three-part response to the Covid-19 pandemic. An investment of ￡2bn will be made to subsidise landlords and homeowners - via the use of vouchers - to make properties more energy-efficient over the current financial year.
