GREG CLARKE IS a Senior Field Development Specialist for Valent U.S.A., the sponsor of the American Fruit Grower Apple Growerof the Year award. He's based in Pennsylvania and lives just about 40 miles north of Catoctin Mountain Orchard, which is co-owned by this year's Apple Grower of the Year, Robert Black.He first met Black in the mid-1980s, when Clarke was still an undergraduate, just starting on the road to receiving a doctorate in plant pathology.
