OPEC and non-OPEC oil producers, including Russia, meeting in Vienna in late May, agreed to extend their production target agreement. The production adjustments, aimed at drawing down world inventories and bolstering prices, were initially launched in January and were to run for six months. The extension will see those output curtailments run for another nine months beginning July 1, pushing them into the first quarter of next year.
