摘要

The construction of EHV substation is gathering momentum in the country due to rapid growth of power sector. With private players and industrial giants entering into the fray, large numbers of EHV substations are being constructed every year.There is a trend in the country to award EPC contracts for the substations through competitive bidding. The successful bidder has therefore to look for the avenues to curtail unwanted expenditure.Proper Design and Engineering at various stages of the project help in reducing the cost of civil work, equipment and construction.The paper here under gives brief account of various considerations which help in optimizing the cost and the construction time of Air Insulated sub-station/ switchyard without compromising on reliability & safety.
