Fetzara Lake is 18 km from Annaba and has been officially classified as a wetland to be protected by the Ramsar Convention (2003). The water and soil of the lake are affected by salinization.The objective of this work is to locate the salinity levels of surface waters of Fetzara Lake and to high light the nitrite-electric conductivity relationships that may exist. A study of the surface waters of Fetzara Lake has shown that there is high salinity. This mineralization is particularly important in surface waters during the wet season as the water is more charged with soluble salts from the rain. A study ofthe relationship between nitrites and electrical conductivity (EC) showed that there isa positive relationship between these two elements, specially during the wet season, these results are confirmed by the principal component analysis (PCA). The high concentration of nitrites in surface waters is mainly due to the use offertilizers in this agricultural area and the contribution of rainwater and runoff, which increases the salinity of lake waters.
