Recently, I found a flier in my mailbox from a timber company offering to purchase my land or timber. The flier was professionally produced and offered enticements like "top prices paid -currently working in your area -- our certified foresters are waiting to meet with you."Some landowners will think this sounds great, especially if they have been thinking about selling timber for some time. However, as a Forestry Consultant, I have had numerous people call me after they've sold timber to companies like this one. Companiesthat—on the surface— seem legitimate.
