摘要

In congestive heart failure (CHF) neuroendocrine network activation is complex and is generally associated with worsening of hemodynamic status and severity of clinical findings. Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) have a critical role in countering the effects of the sympathetic and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone systems. These peptides are produced by atrial and ventricular myocites respectively, and also by cardiac fibroblasts (Tsuruda et al. 2002). The plasma levels of natriuretic peptides are increased in several heart diseases. In humans, ANP and BNP are considered valid cardiac biomarkers and they are routinely used to predict the severity of the disease.
