And managing the health, welfare and quality assurance systems that are required to ensure a safe and premium product for the end user involves a lot of moving parts. "It'sa constantly evolving situation," says Mr Blake. "Science, information and technology are always changing and so we are constantly looking to ensure that we are up to speed. We position animal health and welfare, food safety, and veterinary public healthareas under two banners: One Health and One Welfare. This recognises the inter-relationship and interconnection between animal health and public health; between animal welfare and human wellbeing. It's about trying to evolve and develop policies that will advance those areas and apply controls that sustain these for the public good."
