Control valves: quality is key, inside and out

During a recent business trip Valve World met up with Mr. Mahmood Ahmed Al-Ruqaishi, a Quality Measurement Instrumentation (QMI) Engineer with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in Muscat, Oman. PDO are a major oil exploration and production company responsible for around 70% of the country's crude oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply. We asked Mr. Al-Ruqaishi about some of his work related to control valves. MR. AL-RUQAISHI, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT PDO? I joined the company in 2005 as an instrument trainee, spending six years in the gas field as a technician. PDO then awarded me a scholarship to study as an instrumentation & control engineer. After graduating I returned to PDO as a Quality Measurement Instrumentation Engineer. Today I'm part of a team that provides functional support to the field divisions. I am also being given every opportunity to develop my skills in the area of control valves, which PDO has identified as critical items.
