Dear Editor, Cambridge University Pre-Hospital Care Programme (CUPHCP) is an open access student-led teaching programme established in October 2014 by a lead committee of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) consultant, critical care paramedic, educational lead and a medical student. The programme runs as 19 monthly lectures delivered over two years, covering every theme within the national PHEM curriculum. The aim is to offer an opportunity for the PHEM practitioners of the future to engage with the specialty. Essex and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance Trust have a long history of providing placements to medical students and this link provided the initial platform for the programme, which is modelled on Barts and The London Medical School's (BL) Pre-Hospital Care Programme. Each monthly academic forum lasts 90 min, with a keynote lecture followed by a case presentation or live simulation. Keynote speakers are usually experts in their field and comprise the PHEM sub-specialty development lead, national advisers in areas such as 'Human Factors', consultants in PHEM and paramedics. The first 19 lectures were certified by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine for one Continued Professional Development point which acted as evidence of continued learning for healthcare professionals. The forums were advertised to medical students at the University of Cambridge and practitioners across the East of England Trauma Network. The first cycle of 19 monthly lectures was successfully completed in September 2016.
