European Commission investigating steel wheel dumping claims

ACCORDING TO THE ASSOCIATION of European Wheel Manufacturers (EUWA), steel wheels for cars and trucks is a business worth 1.5 billion euros a year to its members. These companies produce more than 25 per cent of all steel road wheels made within the European Union, and at the start of this year the EUWA moved to protect their interests. A complaint from the EUWA, on behalf of its 28 manufacturer members, was lodged with the European Commission on 3 January. In it, the EUWA alleged that imports of steel road wheels from the People's Republic of China are being dumped in Europe and are harming the local industry.The European Commission is now looking into these allegations.
