OXYFINES - A New Technology for Recycling Metal-containing Dust and Sludge

The different metal-containing dusts generated in the production are a bid problem for steel producers. Recycling and treatment of dust and sludge is often expensive and problematic. This causes the challenge to find an efficient and less expensive way to solve the problems of recycling these materials. Linde Gas developed a technology called OXYFINES, which provides a possibility to recycle these dusts and sludges. This technology uses a special designed oxy-fuel burner, which enables an agglomeration of the metal-containing dust. In the oxy-fuel flame harmful elements can be volatilized. The resulting product can normally be used as a raw material in existing processes. When implemented into these processes, OXYFINES do not leave any negative impact on the established process operation.
